Navy glitter on the classic Speedcat, black glitter on the wedge: atmos pink’s newest PUMA project previewed at atmoscon and goes wide in Japan on November 6.

A mirror ball does one thing well: it takes a small amount of light and throws it around the whole room. atmos pink, the women’s sneaker shop that grew out of Tokyo’s atmos, has borrowed that idea for its latest project with PUMA, dressing two versions of the Speedcat in glitter for PUMA SPEEDCAT MIRROR BALL by atmos pink, a release whose theme, “NO REASON TO SHINE,” is pitched as permission to sparkle without needing an occasion.

There are two pairs. The classic, low-slung Speedcat comes in pale navy, while the Speedcat Wedge takes the same glitter treatment in black. Both were first sold on October 31 at atmoscon 2026 in Shinjuku, a pre-sale window that explains the date circulating with the release, and both go into general sale on Friday, November 6.

The standard Speedcat keeps its streamlined racing shape and pairs it with a soft navy colorway, glitter scattered across the upper. Underneath sits a rubber outsole that atmos pink singles out for grip, and the box carries two spare sets of laces, a navy pair with a subtle shimmer and a plain white pair. Its size run, 22.5 to 29.0 cm, stretches well past a typical women’s range.

The Speedcat Wedge version is the darker, dressier half. Its black base makes the glitter read sharper, and the hidden wedge adds lift without breaking the low-profile line the Speedcat is known for. A hook-and-loop closure locks in the fit for long hours on foot, and the spare laces stay in the same family: plain black, plus a black pair with a faint glint. It runs 23.0 to 26.0 cm, and at ¥20,900 it sits ¥3,300 above its flatter sibling.

None of this would land without the shoe underneath it. PUMA first made the Speedcat in 1999, basing its lifestyle version on the fireproof footwear worn by Grand Prix drivers through the 1980s and 1990s. When the brand brought the OG back in 2024, it described the original as its best-selling shoe of all time, and its slim, flat profile has sat at the center of the low-profile sneaker wave ever since.

PUMA then widened the family. In December 2025 it pulled the Speedcat Wedge back out of its archive, giving the icon a concealed heel and new proportions, and launched it alongside a ballet-flat variant and a reworked OG.

The shop has been working through the Speedcat for more than a year and a half. Its first, the Speedcat OG “Formula Pink,” marked the 25th anniversary of atmos in April 2025 and, like this pair, was pre-sold at atmoscon before a general release. In December 2025 came the Speedcat ATMOS PINK DENIM at ¥16,500, built around a “DENIM LOVER” theme with a matching velour tracksuit and a remake workshop for buyers at the atmos pink flagship in Harajuku. Mirror Ball shifts the palette again, from racing pink to washed blue to nightclub glitter, while keeping the same habit of pairing each shoe with an event.

The rollout ran across a week in Tokyo. After atmoscon, atmos pink scheduled SPEEDCAT LOUNGE NEXT GENERATION for the evening of November 4 at or MIYASHITA PARK in Shibuya, a free event from 19:00 to 21:00 built around a talk with Mika of the vocal group Little Glee Monster, who fronts the collection’s key visual. Dance and DJ sets were also on the bill, and anyone arriving in a pair of Speedcats was promised a free drink.

Mika joined the group through an open audition in 2022, and its album BREATH arrived on September 16, 2026. Putting a singer in the campaign fits the shop’s own pitch. atmos pink describes itself as a women’s sneaker select shop for Gen Z customers aged 16 to 29, organized around a “Pink’s Street” idea that draws on music, art, dance, and sports.

The parent business explains the reach. Hidefumi Hommyo opened atmos in 2000 as a small store on the back streets of Ura-Harajuku, and atmos pink later became its women’s banner. Foot Locker agreed to buy atmos in 2021 for $360 million, with atmos keeping its name and identity under the new owner.

For now the collaboration is a Japanese release. The official announcement lists only atmos pink stores, select atmos locations, and the atmos online store, with no overseas date or price attached to either model.
